Symptoms of a bad water tube assembly include:

Bobbie for Model Number Whirlpool ED22RF Refrigerator/Freezer

We have a leak in the water line in the BACK of the refrigerator/freezer, not the front. The leak is very close to the bottom, about 12" from where the tube goes into the bolt at the back bottom corner of the freezer side. We have a very long water line and have a lot of extra. Can we just cut the part away that has the hole and reconnect with the fresh end? or do we need to buy a whole new line so it has a special end? We didn't want to cut it and find out we need to order a whole new line anyway. Please advise as soon as possible. HELP! Thanks.

Answer

Bobbie, Based on the information, yes, you can cut the water supply line and attach it to the water valve as you plan. Just make sure the end of the tube is cut cleanly and evenly, and clean any burrs off the end to be inserted/attached to the valve. Also make sure you run a gallon or so of water through the water dispenser. this will clear any air in the tubing and flush the water supply system.
