For Whirlpool Water Tube Assembly (Part Number: OEM18027981)

Evan for Model Number 57762791

Hello, I have a 20 year old Kenmore side by side fridge. Recently, the water dispenser began dripping after dispensing a glass of water. At first, it would stop after a while but now it does not stop. I did not know about your site and I went to Sear Parts Direct and I was told to order a water dispenser tube to fix the problem. The part is WP4388152 Refrigerator Dispenser Fitting and Water Tube Assembly. Thank God for your video on how to change the part, which I did this morning. Unfortunately, it did not help a bit. Can you please tell me what could be causing the issue. I followed your instructions exactly and there are no leaks. Thank you in advance for your time. Evan

Evan, From your description of the issue, it sounds as if the water valve is leaking through and not turning the water completely off. The model number listed din;t come up in my system if you would like to double-check the model number you can find the water valve part number at our site www.appliancepartspros.com

Ed, There is not a water tube that will work for this as the manufacturer has foamed this in place. If the serial number is between AF and AM then you could use the dispenser heater kit WR49X10173 and if it is not then the only way to correct is replace the door.

Billy B. for Model Number 106.9512810 Kenmore

The waterspout broke off while I was changing the light bulb so I bought WP4388152. I watched your video and started in. I got as far as removing the hinge and cam. I taped a string to the bottom end of the old tubing and then started to feed the tube through to remove it. It won't budge on either end. At the bottom, it will go in about 1/2" and then feels like it's hitting something. At the top, I grabbed it with a pair of needle-nose pliers (the only way I could pull it upward out of the hole it's in) and it wouldn't budge any at all. It's like there's a clip holding it inside the door or the tube is snaked around over the top of one obstruction and under the bottom of another. At any rate, I cannot get it to go through. Is there some trick to it on this model or am I destined to call the repairman?

1 Answer

Hello Billy, You will not need a string tied to the water line since this will make it too large to pass through the opening. Pull the old water line out from the top and feed the new one in from the top to the bottom. If it stops before getting all the way through, it may be hitting the door hinge. If the door is off, this issue will not occur. It will just slide through.

Hello Sulema. The water supply line simply screws onto the water fitting inside you house. Then you screw the other end onto the water valve on the back of your unit. Be sure and check for leaks.

Hello Joel. You press in on the compression fitting and then the water line will pull out of the fitting.

Ken for Model Number KSSS48QHX00

Hi - I have a KitchenAId KSSS48QHX00 and the water spout plastic is brittle and broke off - it has no leaks. Your site doesn't list this part as compatible, but it sure looks like the correct fitting (and tubing). My tubing doesn't travel through the lower hinge as shown in your video - it appears to travel inside a larger grey tube that also houses the electrical wires - so I may need longer tubing - or can I just cut the spout off and glue yours on instead?

1 Answer

Ken, The tubing for the water dispenser is foamed in place in the door of your unit and would not be able to be replaced. The door would need replaced for this issue.
