First, I will never, ever make the mistake of unscrewing anything on an appliance while it is still connected to power - what started as a cosmetic fix on the freezer door ended up costing me $340 to fix after I shorted out one of the boards for the dispenser. Replaced control panel and overlay it was very easy. Just four screws and a few connectors.. If you plan on replacing the control board be sure to order a new overlay also. It makes the repair so much easier. Read more

I was told by the person who took my order that I could find an instruction video on you tube . So I went there and follow those instructions. The repair went well although I did have a slight problem with the door latch and the soap dispenser lever. They both fell out as I was trying to install the timer, but I went back to the video and although it didn't show how to replace these two parts I was able to see how they were placed and was able to figure it out from there. Not having any local Thermador support I took the advise from KC on the repair forum. The repair consisted of removing and replacing the control and relay board. The hardest part of the job was working behind the stove while it was pulled from the wall. ( didn't want to scratch my floor ). This couldn't have been simpler! Removed the glass panel by taking out 4 screws on the bottom that were accessed by opening the oven door. Lifted up, then pulled the panel forward, released one electrical connection, and the panel was disconnected and could be laid on a flat surface.
