Although small, an oil seal is an important part of the oil cylinder assembly as it prevents oil from leaking into other parts of the engine. If oil begins to leak into the engine, it can corrode other parts or even pose a fire hazard. Therefore, it's important that the oil cylinder is tightly sealed to prevent any damage to the engine. Seals can wear out over time, especially if exposed to heat. Heat will cause the seal to shrink, effectively unsealing the oil cylinder. Before making this repair, be sure to drain the oil cylinder of any oil and be prepared for an involved replacement process.
