How to Troubleshoot & Replace Bosch AP2802332 / 00166630 Detergent Cup Latch W Spring

I bought a new lid and spring. Watched the video. Easy fix. Hardest part was attaching the spring onto lid before closing. 

After buying a torx wrench, the repair was easy. I followed the online video and pausing when I needed more time. Thank you so much for your great customer service and the online tutorial. 

I found the item on Appliance Parts Pros. I thought I only needed the spring but, I ordered the kit. I am glad I did. I had to replace the plastic latch also. The part was delivered in two days. The video was also of great help, took about 20 min. to do the job. This is the second time I have used this site to repair an appliance. 

Followed the instructions on the repair video, by removing the front panel, then the soap door and replaced the latching mechanism. The spring was in good shape. The soap door doesn't work as well as I had hoped and the replacement soap door part is too expensive. The dishes still get nicely clean with a detergent pod. I used a razor knife to help remove the old part, too. 

I was told by my repairman that he was told that the spring was not available as a separate item and that I must purchase a new detergent assembly for $159. Luckily, I checked with Appliance Parts Pros and found out that they carried the spring that I needed for only $13. - quite a savings and I was able to install it myself! 

I discovered the door seal and door gasket were basically liquefying. I followed the videos and the repair was very manageable. I decided to replace the soap door assembly while everything was disassembled. Our 16 yr old dishwasher is now going strong. 

Replacing the lid and latch fixed the problem. I did this on two identical dishwashers. On each, two of the four prongs on the actuator arm broke off when removing the old latch, It appears that the remaining two are sufficient to hold the latch in place. I would have ordered a new arm, but they were out of stock. 

The detergent lid peg had broken off so the spring was loose. I ordered a replacement lid but also ordered the cup latch and spring just in case. Glad I did because the old spring was bent and despite my efforts, couldn't be bent back into a shape where it wouldn't block the sliding of the lid. Once I replaced the lid and spring, the dispenser functions perfectly. The repair took about 20 minutes. Thanks for the great instructional videos! They gave me the confidence that I could do the repair myself. 

Purchased replacement parts from the Appliance Part Pros and was able to do the replacement in less than 10 minutes.
