How to Troubleshoot & Replace Bosch AP2802339 / 00166637 Dispenser Gasket

Our 15 year old Bosch dishwasher started leaking Rinse Agent on silverware, leaving a sticky residue. The root cause is the wear on the little rubber seal on the rinse agent valve over time. The whole assembly is easy to replace, once the door skin is removed with just a little fighting with the metal clips as others have stated. My main reason for this review, however, is it was unclear to me if the dispenser gasket came with the dispenser or not. I erred on the side of caution and did order a gasket separately - which was unnecessary. The gasket comes with the dispenser. Hopefully some of you can avoid ordering an unnecessary spare gasket. Appliance Parts Pros did a great job - correct part came quickly with no hassles of any kind. 

I purchased a new dispenser assembly from AppliancePartsPros.com, having purchased other appliance parts from them in the past, and replaced the malfunctioning assembly. Making sure that the new unit was fully seated, so that the gasket would fully prevent any leakage, was a little difficult, but otherwise, the installation was pretty straightforward and easy. 

I did research about that problem. I pulled the door cover off and determined that the part that trips the door to open was frozen in place and there was no way for me to free it. I easily found the detergent dispenser listed and ordered it. When it came, I replaced the dispenser and now it works like new. 

The problem was a defective soap dispenser. You Tube showed the way to replace the dispenser and the part went in easily. When I took the dishwasher door off, something fell on the floor and I couldn't see where it came from. This became the biggest issue. I ended up contacting the people at Appliancepartspros and sent them a picture of the "part". They informed me that it wasn't a "part" from the dishwasher but a "part" from a sippy cup!! Thanks Appliancepartspros. 

Installation was simple based on the video included on the ordering page. Just unscrew and remove the door cover to gain access to the dispenser, and the rest is pretty much plug and play. The metal retaining clips are super sharp so gloves are definitely necessary. The unit also comes with a gasket so you don’t need to order one separately. 

I found the replacement Soap Dispenser on Appliance Parts Pros and when the confirmation email arrived, it also had a video showing the replacement of the Gasket, which also showed me how to remove the Soap Dispenser. This was wonderful because when the part arrived 2 days later, I knew how to remove and replace the part, which saved me potentially hours of trouble! I had the part replaced in about 15 minutes and it works flawlessly! Having a company with the part in stock, at a reasonable price, AND having them send a DIY video like that is the kind of company I want to work with! Possible contact corrosion on the conductors, possible calcification caused the actuator to not open the door. In any case, I received the correct part from Appliance Parts Pros and viewed a YouTube video to see how the actuator is removed and replaced. Simple spring clips (actually part of the stainless steel inner door surface) hold the system in place. Remove the outer door panel to access the clips and push the old unit out. The new unit came with a seal so I did not need to order the extra gasket. Clean the mounting surfaces and install the new unit. Connect the wires and reinstall the outer door panel and start washing dishes again. 

Easy install. Torch driver to remove outer shell, take out old unit with flathead screwdriver and pop in the new one. 

Ordered a new dispenser unit and extra gasket, installed it easily in an hour. First time to do such a repair and glad I did it, saved the expense of hiring someone.
