How to Troubleshoot & Replace Bosch AP3764202 / 00436440 Drain Pump Motor Assembly

This was a very easy repair! The greatest challenge was actually getting the hose clamp seated properly on the hose from the washer to the pump. This was difficult due to the restricted access through the front of the machine (lol that darn stamped metal scraped my arms all to heck) Overall the job took less than an hour 

Got the new one and put it on and it works great, do a load a day. we needed a pair of water pump pliers it would have been a little better 

Took off the top, control panel, door, door gasket, and door panel. Removed old drain pump motor assembly as described in a YouTube video I watched, installed the new drain pump motor assembly, and reassembled the washer. 

Replaced with a new pump assembly 

Unable to completely remove front panel because of a riveted bracket holding it on at the bottom. Was able to ease front panel around plastic door panel, creating just enough space to work. 

I had to remove the pedestal that the washer was attached to, to get to the rubber feet on the drain pump motor assembly. I could have just ordered the motor/pump itself, but decided to go with the entire unit. Less chance for leaks. The entire job took me 4 to 6 hours as I am retired and move a bit slower than most, lol. The access from the front of the washer was very small prompting me to remove the back cover for much better access. Once installed, there was one small leak but after putting O-ring lubricant on the drain hose, the leak went away. 

Install new pump. 

Ordered a new drain pump and replaced it myself. The pump was identical to original except a line about 12" long with a plug in the end. After removing the line to have a look, there was actually a hole running to the bottom of the housing, which the original did not. But it works, I can have clean clothes during this time of chaos in the world.

Installation was smooth. And the washer is running like new. Ordering the part was simple and it fit exactly as the original pump.
