How to Troubleshoot & Replace Bosch AP2802455 / 00172272 Hose Clamp, Pump To Heater (Softer Bearing)

My wife went on-line and declared to me it's an "easy fix" I watched the repair video, and ordered the part that arrived in just a couple days. The repair actually was an easy fix and took about 30 minutes start to finish. A little effort on my part and our dishwasher works like new.

I ordered a circulation motor and heater assembly, as well as the specialized screw-type hose clamp, with the assistance of a tech support person because I couldn't verify proper fit with my model of dishwasher online. The parts arrived the next day, even though I didn't request expedited shipping, and installation only took me about half an hour after I reviewed the procedure through online videos. I was glad I had the screw-type hose clamp, as the clip-together clamp that came with the motor and heater assembly would have been tricky to fasten in the tight access space (my dishwasher has a bottom panel, so I had to do the installation from the side). Everything now works fine, and I saved considerable money doing the repair myself. 

Replaced circulator pump containing water heater element. The old heater element measured an open circuit on an ohmmeter. Checking the new unit the heater element was 9.2ohm. Not too difficult to replace on the Bosch unit, you can access it on the right side without taking the door or floor panel off. 

I replaced the circulation motor and heater assembly. The video tutorial was helpful as far as location and connections of the assembly, but the demo dishwasher unit was open on the bottom, so access was unencumbered once the unit is pulled out and laid over on its side. My model is mounted on a plastic skid, which completely eliminates access from the bottom. Rather than spend time removing and replacing the skid, I pulled insulation away from the sides of the unit and was able to remove and replace the pump assembly by working through the sides of the unit. Note: working through the access areas on the sides is one hand only. I removed the clamp using a diagonal cutter through the left side of the unit. I removed electrical connectors, then removed the pump through the right side. I positioned the new clamp on the hose through the left side - just snug enough that it would hold its position, then installed the new pump assembly through the right side. Final clamp tightening was done through the left side. The total job time was approximately 75 minutes. FedEx delivered the part less than 24 hours after I ordered it! 

So my circ pump impeller broke and I went in with a new kit. Once I got in there, I saw that the washer circ pump was mounted way off true. Apparently my tenant had tried some organic soap, gunked up the washer and called a tech without telling me. This tech was some sort of primate and really messed up with the repair. The pump output was connected to the soft bearing with a standard hose clamp and had torn the soft bearing. The pump was also improperly inserted into the sump and had ruined the seal. There was no repairing it. So I ordered a new sump seal and the proper hose clamp (very narrow and small). I also could not replace just the heater side soft bearing so I bought a used heater assembly with a good soft bearing and reassembled. Works like a champ. I also replaced the eaten up door seal while I was in there. The first time I went in, it took me an entire morning only to have it leak from the bad seals when I tried it. The second time, with new seals and all, only took 90 minutes. I felt like a champ. It is very easy to completely disassemble these things for easily working each assembly. It just takes one good deep dive and I feel like I know the whole machine now. 

Ordered new part from AppliancePartsPros.com and received exactly what was identified. Had no problem following the instructions from the video offered on their web site. The video was missing instructions concerning removal of the side panels, but I have done that before. I am very happy with my experience and would definitely order from them again. Note: My dishwasher needed the Torx #20 screw driver for all screws.
