How to Troubleshoot & Replace Bosch AP2802455 / 00172272 Hose Clamp, Pump To Heater (Softer Bearing)

Hearing a metal on metal noise and not actually circulate water cancelling cycle worked fine After some web research, I concluded it was highly likely to be the circulation pump, so I watched the video on AppliancePartPros.com and realized it was a lengthy repair (a lot of steps) but not technically difficult. I simply played and paused the video at each step and duplicated the steps. The biggest things to take note of: 1) take good pictures of the wiring to use when you re-connect. 2) Wear gloves when reaching down between the housing and the base when disconnecting or reconnect components. The sheet metal edge where the sump mounts is VERY SHARP. I cut myself several times. 3) Pay special attention to the rubber mounts used to hang the circulator pump assembly. As the unit is laying on its side with the base partially separated they have a tendency to release for their hanging positions. Make sure they are in position during re-assembly. 

Installed a new washer water heater module along with its attached temperature sensor. Some difficulty removing the integrated front wood panel. Wiring harness replacement is important otherwise stretched wires prevent replacing the front panel in alignment with wiring harness cutouts. Mistake required complete disassembly once again. 

The problem was the heater/pump assy. Bought a new one from https://www.appliancepartspros.com/ and with the help of this video installed it today. https://youtu.be/MF0OANCGlEw In this dishwasher the heater is part of the recirculating pump. I took the old one apart to see if it could be repaired but did not succeed. The heater element is etched onto a steel drum that the water passes through. The heater connector pins are soldered to the traces on the heater. I could see where the connection was broken, right at the connector. I tried scraping the coating on the heater and was going to try to bridge the break with a jumper. The etched heater runs were so thin that after removing the insulation the trace disintegrated when I tried to solder it. 

Replaced pump/heater with OEM part from AppliancePartsPros.com Watched the video from that site before attempting the repair. After watching the video, the repair was easy. The most time-consuming was disconnecting water, drain, and electrical in order to pull out the machine. Reconnecting these lines also required a lot of patience due to the way my machine was originally installed. 

E20 is a motor resistance error. This was my first ever dishwasher repair. I went pretty slowly. Assuming the problem was motor failure, I bought a motor and accessories. While taking apart the machine and removing the current motor, I flushed all the residual water from the motor and shook it quite a bit. While I never saw any particular “thing” that may have been jamming the impeller, I temporarily reconnected the power to the unit and start a rinse cycle. To my surprise, the motor started right up and no E20. I opted not to even install the new motor. Note, reinstalling the motor was easy, but the original hose clamp was very cheap and was virtually impossible to reuse. So I opted to use the $14 replacement hose clamp that was very high quality. We have now run 5-6 loads and no issues whatsoever. 

The pump impeller came apart so it was not pumping the water and making noise. The dishwasher came apart easy but the gasket to the sump assembly stayed attached to the bottom of the tub and did not pull it off. I was running my thumb around the gasket to see if it was in good shape or if I needed to replace it and sliced my thumb open on the sharp edge of the tub opining. So a $150 later for Emergency Room visit and a sore thumb I re assembled the dishwasher. Be careful of sharp edges in this dishwasher. I turn the water and power on but the dishwasher and pressed the power button and the pump motor as just running with no water. I check all the connections, the float and everything else I could. the pump motor would just run with no water entering the dishwasher. I turned out since we stopped the dishwasher in mid cycle when we heard the strange noise I remembers this even through a power disconnect. The power to the dishwasher was disconnected for 3 day and I still new it was in mid wash cycle. Once I press cancel. And re started it, everything worked perfect. 

Replaced the diverter valve - leak was due to the motor shaft grommet 

I’m so glad that appliance parts pros.com popped up while searching this E-9 error code with my six year old Bosch dishwasher. I typed in the model number and the error code and I got the correct part that fit perfectly. I paid extra to have next day shipping and it arrived the next day. I was so grateful for the video because it was totally accurate and it was clear to follow. It was also nice to know that I could call their support line if needed. I am a 57-year-old woman with no plumbing experience and I was able to do this heat pump replacement. You can do it too! I probably saved myself $1000 by doing it myself. The dishwasher was lighter than expected, and it was so easy to replace the heat/water pump. I ordered a hose clamp, but the part already came with one so don’t order that. Now my water heats up and my dishes dry. I think the reason the heater water pump busted was because I had never known that there is a filter at the bottom of my dishwasher that needs to be cleaned. It was clogged with gunk, which probably blocked the water from getting to the heater, which is why it burned out. My lesson learned is to clean the filter periodically. 

Replaced the circulation pump. Fwiw, the initial order shipped and arrived promptly but was damaged during shipping, breaking the capacitor. Called, sent pics and they had the replacement shipped that day. Great customer service all around. 

1. I tested the water inlet valve and there was no continuity. I then bought the water inlet valve and replace the the bad unit for the new part. 2. I then place the dishwasher on an express wash cycle to see if the water inlet valve was working. I did see water entering the dishwasher tub by observing the water inlet housing. I let the cycle run for 5 minuted but did not observe the spray arms moving after opening the door. 3. My next step was to test the pump and motor housing unit. There was not continuity on the pump connector but the heater unit did not continuity. I bought the pump and motor housing unit and replaced the old unit for the new unit. I then ran an express wash cycle and after five minutes; I opened the door and noticed the spray arms moving. 4. Problem fixed. The Appliance Parts videos were spot on to help with the repairs. The store prices are very competitive with other online appliance websites.
