How to Troubleshoot & Replace Bosch AP4359774 / 00669221 Lower Door Seal

Bought a lower door seal from AppliancePartsPros.com, followed instructions provided on You tube, and about one and one half hours later fixed my dishwasher. Dishwasher works now, and was happy to not wait for the dishwasher repair guy. We have two dishwashwers and I may now pursue fixing our other Bosch dishwasher. The rep at Applianc Pros was offering me trouble shooting advice on both of our dishwashers which was great. 

Purchased seals from appliance parts pros and watched videos to replace. The website and videos made the install a breeze. I am a huge fan of your website and videos. I have used them for years to fix all sorts of home appliances. 

I had a local repair come out and tell me that it would cost $340 to fix. I ordered the part and my son and I swapped it out in about an hour. It cost less than $30 to do myself. I found videos on YouTube to tell me how to do it. Only tools needed were a Phillips screwdriver and a Torx driver. 

Replaced door seal. Took about 2 hours from start to finish. Would have been less than an hour if I was able to disconnect the door springs. However without removing my entire dishwasher and disconnecting everything and reinstalling I could not access the door springs. 

Bought the new lower door seal. Took the door apart and replaced the seal. No longer has the problem. 

The video was helpful. But I struggled to get the spacers in the right place. The video doesn’t show where the spacers should be. It took me a long time to figure it out by myself. As the video says, the spacer and the info light do jump at you while taking out the lower door panel. 

I had no idea what to do about my leaky Bosch dishwasher. I could feel the warped seal and temporarily fix the leak by cleaning it, but the problem would soon return. I was considering replacing the machine. However, I had recently fixed my Kenmore refrigerator by following an AppliancePartsPros video and looked there again for this. The part itself just snaps into place. However, I can't imagine how badly my repair would have gone without the detailed video. See, you have to pull out the dishwasher, remove some covers that aren't that close to the seal, then take the door off its hinges to get to it. Those are simple steps one by one but not obvious from the parts diagrams or by looking at the machine. So how I did it was to follow the video. That made it easy. No further explanation needed. It might have taken an hour. Surprisingly, the box the part came in was exactly the box needed in the video instructions. 

I checked the door seal it was fine and clean, I pass my fingers with a little pressure over the bottom seal and I felt that it was not on the same resistance at one point so I assumed that the bottom seal was bad. I ordered the seal at AppliancePartsPros.com. I receive the exact original part, I replace the bottom seal as the video provided by AppliancePartsPros.com, and the repair was made without any problem. My favorite supplier. 

Ordered lower door seal as my original was clearly busted. I watched the repair video that was provided. This was very helpful and provided simple step-by-step instructions. I was able to get the repair done in about 30-40 minutes. Make sure to check your machine before starting any project. On my machine the screw heads are not standard phillipshead. They were different but fortunately I had the correct tip otherwise you may have to get one. Other than that everything went smoothly. 

The 2 seals on a dish washer door are the Door Seal which attaches to the body of the dishwasher and the lower door seal which connects the bottom of the body to the door. It was not clear which was leaking so I bought both parts, watched the videos, and got to work. The door seal took only a couple of minutes to replace as you just pull out the old and push in the new. The lower door seal requires you to pull out the dishwasher and take apart the door. Turns out this only takes unscrewing 12 screws. The old lower door seal had 3 inch tears on both sides. I just followed the video and it was all done in about 30 minutes. So far it is working great and I hope it lasts another 10 years.
