How to Troubleshoot & Replace Frigidaire AP4979888 / 5303918558 Switch Board (Control Panel)

Definitely a circuit board problem - beeping, flashing, cycling power to compressor, some lights not working, weird defrost, no panel function, no water or ice maker dispensing. Replaced board and 100% back to normal. Thirty minutes to replace and vacuum. Whew! If you look closely, one of the capacitors is bulging. I wonder if this is the dreaded capacitor plague...? 

Initially cut power to unit from circuit breaker. Would clear CE error for shorter and shorter periods of time. Ordered main control board from AppliancePartsPros.com. Representative very helpful informing me that others with same problem had success fixing it with the part. I installed it yesterday. Took about an hour. So far the patient is doing fine and the operation seems to be a total success. As with any operation, the next few days are critical. We have out fingers crossed. As of this writing, fridge is running great, and we are all optimistic. 

Replaced defrost heater and clip-on thermostat in the freezer. Replaced the switchboard. 

I hired a local repair company, Tech came out , nice guy, took some volt meter readings and determined it was the inverter and the compressor. Said would have to order both because couldn't get inverter without breaking so, I had him write down the part number and ordered it. didn't work so I called Appliance pros talked with Nicole who said it was the main control board, I called back and talked to Mark and I ordered the part showed up the next day, little tricky to get at and the retro fit additional cable was fun too.. Got everything hooked up runs like a champ. Thank you. 

Replaced the computer board 

Read other reviews on Appliance Parts that had the same problem. They replaced the Board Switch to resolve the issue. Was able to order a Electrolux replacement part (not off brand, read reports not to do that) & installation was simple with one question answered by Appliance Parts. Saved a lot of money since we live in rural area & service calls are expensive. Installation was simple! 

Went online to Applianceparts search site by model number but was not positive of part match as it looked different. Used the live chat and Kathy helped me to make sure I was getting the right item. Part arrived very next day. Replacement was not hard after I lifted the front of fridge on some blocks of wood (highly recommend this) Fridge is working great. I highly recommend this company very satisfied 5 stars all the way 

Replacing the control board under the fridge solved the problem. 

I went online and googled a description of the display panel when the unit failed. Several blogs indicated it was likely to be a main board failure. I then determined exactly which part would work for my unit. I ordered it through AppliancePartsPros.com because they unequivocally matched my unit to the appropriate replacement part. It was easy to install and fixed the problem.
