How to Troubleshoot & Replace Frigidaire AP3965251 / 154106202 Heating Element Nut

First I unplugged the dishwasher from the outlet. Then disconnected the water feed and waste water return lines. Removed the dishwasher from the counter and removed the lower metal panel to access the heating element nuts. Installed the new nuts and tightened them. Reinstalled the connectors to the heating element and put the dishwasher back into the counter. Reconnected the water feed and return lines and plugged the machine back in. Tested for proper operation of the machine and verified no other leaks were present. 

Removed the wire, took off old screw, it was split down one side and would not tighten. Put on new screw and put wire back on. 

Timer would stick at 7 o’clock position and never advance. New timer over $300, but checked heater element and found it bad, thermostat also bad which caused failure. Repair took about an hour because it was much easier to remove washer from counter to do it. Had it turned out to be the timer it would be at the dump now as I could get a washer for what the timer costs. 

Took about 30 min The element was still working, The brass nut that holds it in underneath the unit had broken creating the leak I figured since I was taking the unit out and the unit is 10 years old I would replace the element while I was in there. I removed the unit from underneath the cabinet, removed broken nuts, removed element,,, New element in, replaced both brass nuts with new ones, back together, leak gone 

Purchased the new nuts and replaced them. 

Followed video and completed repair in 20 minutes. 

The video you provided made it look so easy, we decided to fix it ourselves. We did not even have to pull the dishwasher out. It took about 1/2 hour and saved us hundreds of dollars. 

Replaced heating element 

Pulled the plug from the bottom that released the heating element nut, screwed on the new heating element nut, put the plug back in the bottom of the heating element. DONE!!!! it was easy & soooo cheap.
