The icemaker started making hideous banging and popping noises then eventually stopped making ice. I searched for my refrigerator model on AppliancePartsPros.com. Watched a video demonstrating how easy to replace ice making (tray) mechanism. Found what I believed to be the correct part using the company's very clear diagrams and maps. Held my breath and took a chance ordering one small assembly. A few days later, it took literally less time to remove two plainly visible Phillips-head screws, remove one little socket screw, slide the old mechanism out, slide the new mechanism in, plug it in and reinsert the coverings and screws than it did to type this message. If I hadn't found and watched the video(s), I'd never known how easy. Turns out, the popping and banging was caused by a deformed ice tray that could no longer flip freely. It was probably deformed from years of catching on ice in full bin. Now, the only banging I hear is the beautiful sound of fresh ice dropping freely again. Clear video and correct part on first try. Result: Super easy change out, cold drinks, no waste in the landfill.
