I initially took the bottom pieces of the oven out to reveal the tube that emits the gas and the igniter. When I attempt to bake, I can watch the igniter light up and glow, but the gas never starts to flow. Not knowing any better, I assumed that meant the gas valve mechanism was faulty. But after researching a bit more, it became apparent that what I was experiencing was a safety feature for a faulty igniter. There is a safety mechanism that does not allow the gas to flow if the igniter is not pulling enough current. Although the igniter visually is glowing, it's not drawing the proper current, which means that it's potentially not hot enough to ignite the gas if it's flowing. So despite the fact that the igniter glows, it is actually faulty. After replacing the igniter, the oven bake mechanism began working properly. It was a pretty easy repair. The hardest part was figuring out how to access the connector for the igniter. I unnecessarily pulled the oven away from the wall. In my case, the connector is accessed by pulling out the storage drawer underneath the oven.
