How to Troubleshoot & Replace Frigidaire AP5272381 / 154844101 Dishwasher Pump And Motor Assembly

Went surprising well! First noticed a problem with water leaking from underneath the dishwasher. Inspected the unit and discovered hard water deposits on the inner portion of the motor. Apparently the gasket for the drive shaft was leaking and leaked through the vents of the motor onto the floor. Order the part here and shipped fast; just like all orders here. Watched the video on the part's page and everything was explained. 

Took the motor pump apart to see if it could be repaired, I determined that it would be better to replace the unit with a new one. I went on line and found Appliance Parts and ordered the parts I needed. They were purchased and shipped to me very quickly. After I received them I installed the parts and the dishwasher is now working fine.

Started by locating the breaker for the dishwasher and shut the power off checked to make sure the power was off with that confirmed removed the screws securing the dishwasher to counter top and slide the dishwasher out of cabinet as I have a long stainless steel braided water supply line and a long flex electric supply there was no need to disconnect these lines removed the racks to avoid damage to the inside of dishwasher then placed it on its side with the motor pointing upward next removed the wire connectors on the motor simple just squeeze the lock and unplug next remove two screws in the motor clip and slide clip out next grasp motor and with slow twisting back and forth pulling upward at the same time and the unit comes out in one piece put the new O rings on the new pump unit and wet them so they don't bind when you push it back in place and reverse steps to install the new unit

Removed the dishwasher, flipped it over and replaced the motor, reinstalled it. Pc of cake! 

After shutting off the water and killing the power i pulled out the dishwasher just enough to slightly tip back and was inabd out in 20 min very easy replacement 

I had two issues. First as many have related the dishwasher would leak out the bottom of the front door. It was difficult to peg when it was going to happen. Had a repair man out who suggested too much soap. So I was soap conscious for a while then as it happened again I began to look online. The door strip seal was an easy replacement. NO NEED TO DISASSEMBLE the door. Just lay it open and pull the seal..likely it's loose. It goes back in same place with a firm push...slide it in. Second problem was slight drip from pump motor housing. I could see the water dripping from inside the shaft seal. Initially ordered just the gaskets to later find I needed whole motor which came with gaskets. Quick phone call to Appl Pros and returned open gaskets and matched the motor price from Sears! The standard shipping is 2 days like Amazon so don't upgrade. Great service!!
