How to Troubleshoot & Replace Frigidaire AP3969435 / 316490001 Probe

It went really well. It was easy!! 

Replaced temperature probe. 

I had to replace both the T-stat probe and the control board. I may have been able to only replace the control board, since the T-stat probe tested ok with my multi-meter, but I went ahead and replaced both since I did not have a way to test the T-stat at higher temps. 

Changed the probe and door switch. Also pulled double oven out, replaced the convection motor. The unit was 30 years old. only pain was pulling out oven to get to back. watched video first, AppliancePartsPros were a great help. 

Pulled the oven (double convection) out of the wall, removed the back cover. Found the sensor connector had some grease in it. Disconnected the sensor, removed it from inside the lower oven. Since the new sensor has a different connector, cut off the connectors on both sides and spliced the wires together. Before closing the oven, checked that the lower oven would work. It did just like new. reassembled the oven and put it back in the wall. Just in time for Christmas dinner, we now how two ovens that work perfectly. 

Replaced the temp sensor probe 

Easy installation 

First, I order the wrong part, I returned it without any hassle and then after chatting with one of Applicance Parts associate she recommended the oven temperature probe and the oven element, once the new parts were install the convection oven started to heat again. 

Googled the appliance and model, and researched the symptoms. Forms out that 80% of the time it was the temperature prove inside the oven. Ordered the part from appliance parts pros. 

The control board started making a noise - the bake element relay was chattering. I traced the problem to the oven temp probe ( it read 1100 Ohms on meter - much too high ). The most trouble was getting the connector on the new part through the insulation on the outside of the oven wall. Next I put Molex Mini-fit Jr pins & housing on wire harness to match new part. The rest was easy - just button things up after a quick test. Extra tools - wire cutter, wire stripper, crimp tool
