How to Troubleshoot & Replace Frigidaire AP3160597 / 5303918277 Replacement Icemaker

Replaced it with a a new Icemaker. 

After a fair amount of investigation, removing and checking the ice maker, I concluded our old ice maker needed to be replaced. It was an easy thing to do using a video provided by APP. It's now producing cubes, but not frequently enough. This implies either the water coming in doesn't have enough pressure or the water inlet valve needs to be replaced. I will do rectify the problem with confidence thanks to APP. 

I replaced the ice maker. 

There appeared to be something wrong with the mechanism that prevented the ice maker from automatically completing the cycle and ejecting the ice into the bin. I first replaced the water valve, which may not have been necessary, but I'm not savvy enough with electrical testing to successfully perform the diagnostic tests. Having ensured that I was properly getting water to the ice maker, because it was in fact making ice, I determined that for some reason, it wouldn't complete the cycle on its own because the completed ice cubes would sit on top. It seemed that each time a set of ice was made, I would have to manually move the shut-off bail to "off" and then back down to the "on" position. Replaced the ice maker following the instructions and as depicted in the video, and it now works like new. The whole process took less time than I've spent typing up this story. 

I ordered a replacement part and installed it with no problems. It was an easy fix and the new ice maker works perfectly.

I replaced the ice maker and in 20 minutes I had ice. A mirror to see the two screws and a screwdriver were the only tools I needed. The screws are loosened only, not removed. Lift up and slide out old ice maker. Be sure electric plug to refrigerator is unplugged. The bottom of the ice maker can burn your fingers so be sure you have cut it off by raising the ice lever and then give it 30 minutes to cool down. You will need to plug the new ice maker in. Turn on water and plug refrigerator into outlet. It will take a few minutes to start but it did. 

Replacing the ice maker was a very simple task, it took all of 15 minutes using just a 1/4 nut driver. Unplug and shut water off, loosen 2 screws, lift ice maker unit off screws, squeeze tabs on electrical wire harness and unplug, plug in new unit, make sure fill tube in place, hang on screws, snug screws, level and tighten and then turn on and wait for ice. (Be sure to double check that the fill tube is in correct location before tightening screws.) 

I replace ice maker. The job took less than 15 minutes. The only tool used was a 1/4 nut driver. 

Challenge b/c Avanti discontinued the icemaker. Bought icemaker kit. The harness did not match but was able to wire (4) directly and the thing is now making ice again. Customer support was very helpful but we could not match the old icemaker or board to the new one. It was a guess.
