How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP3965155 / WH43X10034 Agitator Assembly

The agitator was quick to remove and replace - 5 minutes at the most. However the Agitator Coupling was a different matter. It would have been about a 5-10 minute job if the coupler was not caked with nasty hard junk and rust under that. I think the top crust was a mass of hardened lint and grease. Before I could start removing the gunk, I actually had to look at the video to see what the top of the coupler was supposed to look. Once I got the gunk off, I had a rust problem.None of my sockets would fit, so back to the video I went to see what size the repair guy used. However the socket he used would not fit on the bolt due to the rust. So I used Naval Jelly to get rid of the rust. That allowed me to get the wrench on. But when I tried turning it, it wouldn't budge. So out came the WD-40, which I covered the bolt area with. I tapped it with the wrench a couple times in an attempt to break up any more rust coatings I could not get to. Then I went back to the video to see which direction the bolt was being turned. So one more time I put the wrench on the bolt then tapped the end of the handle lightly with a hammer until it started turning. Once I got that done it was smooth sailing. 

Ordered a new agitator from your company. watched the video you furnish and simply popped the broken one out and slipped the new one in. The key here was knowing that the agitator popped out. Didn't want to damage anything else so the video was the selling point from Applianceparts pros. Plus your parts price was very good and no hassle shipping. So many places want a premium for shipping it makes one feels like they are being ripped off. Thanks again appliancepartspros for you service 

Just pulled it off and pushed the new one on. 

Replaced agitator 

I watched the video, ordered the parts. Took less than five minutes to do the repair. The washer now works like a new one. The washer was manufactured in 1998 so I guess it was time for parts. lol 

Removal and installation of the agitator assembly went very smooth. I watched the video from APP and it was SPOT ON!. Nice job APP!! I ended up wrapping a strap around the agitator and using a board about 4 - 5 feet long as a lever to remove the old agitator. As for the water splashing out of the top; After much research, (and watching several videos on the APP site), I determined I had something wrong with my mechanical brake on the transmission and brake assembly. ANOTHER NON-Serviceable part. After tearing the unit down and inspecting the mechanical brake, the brake was stuck OPEN causing the tub to "free spin" when in the agitation mode. This caused severe splashing, especially when running in Super Mode. Soaked the brake mechanism in penetrating fluid, worked it free, lubricated with LPS and all is working now. Thank you APP!!! 

Quick fix after watching video. Only used a 7/16 wrench. Super fast shipping, arrived next day. So far so good working great. 

Ordered new part and put it in as directed on video was a breeze 

The man we bought the washer from said he was "too lazy" to fix it. I watched the video on the appliancepartspros.com part page. When the part came in, the repair took about a minute, maybe two. I pulled off the old agitator (literally, it snaps right off), used a 7/16 wrench to take off the agitator coupler (it didn't need to be changed, but I figured I would change it while I was there), screwed on the new agitator coupler, lined up the new agitator, and pushed it down until I snapped on (you'll feel it click into place). The video is really helpful. 

Bought a new agitator, installed it. My husband watched a video on how to remove the agitator, put the new one on. It was easy. Thank you for sharing the video.
