How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP7188100 / WR55X10942C Board Asm Main Control

New control panel. 

I entered the model number of the refrigerator into Appliance Parts web site and a list of parts came up. The main control board was first item listed. From previous conversation with repairman I suspected this was the problem. Also confirmed the diagnosis based on other peoples description on the web site. I ordered the MCB and it arrived the next day. I installed the board in 15 minutes, problem fixed. 

Watched video on appliancepartspros. and found that the problem was the motherboard ordered new motherboard and it came the next day helps to live in LA simple install and frig works again $161.00 is a lot better than a $1,000.00 or more for a new frig also used appliancepartspro for my dryer $75.00 also better than a new dryer thanks for the videos and easy to get parts and having the parts thanks again ROBERT GRIFFITH. 

Research of this problem showed that it was directly related to a faulty control board. Replacement of the board only took 5 mins and was very easy to do. The fridge is working properly now. 

New main control board and sellonid 

My son just bought his first home. When he moved in the refrigerator was not working. My oldest son had someone look at it and could immediately tell that the main control board was the problem. We ordered the part and received in quickly. He installed it and it began to work immediately! 

I replaced the main control board in the back of the unit. 

Replaced the main control board. The directions that the ground wire on the new board should be connected to a mounting screw next to the board. I chose the replace the ground wire on the new board with the ground wire from the old board. This grounding strap had the connector to plug into the original grounding lead. Seems to be working fine. The entire job took less than 15 minutes. 

I had previously replaced the controller board so I was familiar with the process. Unplug the fridge, removed the panel, took a photo of the existing board and connections, disconnected ground wire and cable connections, removed the board, installed the new board, connected cable connections, attached the ground wire, closed the panel access. Verified the wire removal per instructions in the compressor compartment, plugged in, all was working. 

Ordered a new one. swapped it out. Had to modify the ground wire but I'm good with wires. 19 year old GE fridge. compressor good. I swear it works better than ever, maybe because they have been continually redesigning the electronics. The board looks different than the one replaced.
