How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP7188100 / WR55X10942C Board Asm Main Control

Researched appropriate YouTube video; followed suggested testing procedures, eliminated thermistor/defrost heater/ possibilities with a continuity test using multimeter. Sensor test is difficult and frustrating. Skipped that and continued voltage tests, using same multimeter, tested resistance across condenser windings, tested good. Plugged power to the unit, checked for voltage at the input to the condensor, no voltage. Process of elimination indicated bad motherboard. Ordered new motherboard online. Using AppliancPartsPros websight ordering was simple. Received the new motherboard within a week, checked to see that it looked like the original, it didn't,he new board had more connections but with closer inspection of the board all necessary connections were provided for my unit. Reading the installation instructions thoroughly and in its entirity, is a must. The notes provided explained everything. After making the appropriate connections, I applied power to the unit and the condensor started, indicating that the new board was functioning appropriately. Within 24 hours the frig was working properly. **Note: When removing old motherboard pay close attention to the mounting pegs, observing that there is a locking flang that needs to be depressed in order to make the removal easy as well as insuring that the pegs aren't damaged. This requires dedicated patience and a steady hand along with some needle nose pliers. These pegs will be reused to secure the new board to the unit. 

Replaced circuit board 

I changed the motherboard - computer and also changed the motor in the freezer, because it was doing a howling sound every time it turned on. The repair technician asked for $500 for a repair and that is on top of the $230 I paid him two days before. I looked up the parts and decided to try myself and it paid off. I read comments from other customers, ordered the main control board which arrived in 3 days. Used your video tutorial to replace and everything works now. 

Internet searches for "GE refridgerator hot to touch" yielded several cases where the root problem was a consDensor fan failure. I pulled the fridge away from the wall, and sure enough, the Condensor fan was not spinning even when the compressor was running. A few more Web searches suggested that the problem could be EITHER the fan itself or the main control board (or even both together). Several posts suggested replacing both Components at the same time, so I did. The parts I ordered were delivered the next day. The swap of components took less than half an hour...and the fridge was again fully functional. I am very pleased with the parts, the packaging, the shipping speed, and the whole repair experience. 

I replaced the control board. AppliancePartsPros.com helped identify the source of the problem and find the correct part. I reviewed the installation video to see if someone with only low-to-mid level electrical/mechanical skills could complete the job. I ordered the part and it got here in 2 business days. Following the video, I replaced the part and the fridge is working well again. 

Repairman came out and said it was the Control Board. He drug his feet about ordering the replacement board so I decided to do it myself. Part was $50 cheaper than ordering through local hardware store plus I saved $50 in labor installing it myself. Videos on site are awesome for DIY types. Replaced board 4 days ago and seems to be working fine. 

I did a continuity test on the compressor ( it was good). The fan and capasitor had no power coming to it (checked with voltage tester). Checked voltage coming into mother board ( 115v good). Talked with Appliance Parts Pro about my findings and they suggested the mother board was bad. 

Replace main bard run capacitor & overload 

Replaced main control board, condenser fan motor and inlet valve for ice maker. The website made it easy, from troubleshooting thru replacement of the parts. I'll have to keep this one bookmarked. Shipping was reasonable and swift. Saved hundreds by doing it myself.
