How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP2031021 / WB44X173 Oven Broil Element

I shut the main power off to the stove. I then removed the 2 screws holding the element to the back of the stove. I pulled the element carefully out of the back of the stove and saw it was connected to 2 wires by 2 more screws. I removed those 2 screws. There were 2 more screws which hold the bracket that the element rests on in the stove. I removed them. I simply attached the new element back to the wires, inserted the unit into the back of the stove, reconnected the bracket, and I was ready to turn the power back on. 

Very easy 

Plug in. It was a snap. 

Decided best to replace both elements at the same time even though the Bake element was still working. 

We ordered and replaced both heating elements. 

Ordered a broil element from appliance parts pro, followed the instructional video. Moved stove out and unplugged stove. Took screws from broil element and removed element. Then removed element. Attached new element with screws. Easy!!! 

Watched DIY instructional video clip via internet. Replaced both elements. Only problem was with one of the elements (that was packaged separately) from GE (OEM) the machined screws in a small plastic bag were stuck in the bottom flap inside of the box. I attempted to use the old/original screws and stripped the threads on one of the ends to the new element. After realizing my mistake I improvised by using a smaller machine screw, flat, lock washers and nut to secure the connection. The other element(after market) had the new replacement screws in a plastic bag taped to the new element. Installation for that one was not a problem. 

I ordered a replacement broiler element and replaced the broken one. The video in the web site was invaluable in showing step by step instructions for replacing the element. the tip on using twist ties to secure the element wire leads was great. The whole job took less than 30 minutes. 

Ordered part number WB44X173, it arrived suprisingly the next day....Did repair according to the instructional video and was back in operation within a few minutes....could not have been simplier... Very,very easy fix...Thank you...
