How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP2031021 / WB44X173 Oven Broil Element

Followed the directions in someone's video. Took off the cover and cleaned off the gook. Unscrewed the old light bulb. Screwed in the new lightbulb and it worked. Yay! Bought the broil element for future use. 

Replaced the broil and oven baking elements. Took a little longer than expected but that was mostly due to the awkward positioning of the oven door making it hard to reach inside. Works like a champ...Guess we won't be replacing our 1986 GE microwave/oven combo any time soon. LOL 

Turned off electricity. Removed mounting bracket on element, then screws for element. Inserted new one. 

SIMPLE. EXACT FIT. A FEW NUTS TO UNSCREW PLUG IN TWO WIRES DONE

Ordered the replacement Broil Element- Element was ordered on Saturday and received Monday. The element order was the correct one. The replacement was slow because of the small screws. Superglue was placed on the head of the screw then placed in the socket. This prevents the small screw from falling out of the Socket. The Broil Element is working perfectly. Your website is excellent from finding the part needed to ordering and payment. Notifications of mailing were accurate 

Simple installation 

The chat lady found the parts I needed for my 36 year old oven in about 2 minutes. The parts arrived the day after my order even with standard shipping. The video showed me how easy it was to change the burners and had a great hint as to how one keeps the wires from slipping back inside the oven. I did need to use more tools than the video man used but in the past I have rebuilt an automobile engine so this was not a problem for me. 

Looked up which element my model model oven took. There were 2 possible, elements for my model, they each had different ends where you plug in. I took off the existing element and ordered the corresponding element. When I went to install it, first problem was the ends that plug in were spaced too far apart. Then I found out each end was too wide and I had to trim them accordingly. In the end, the element worked. These modifications would not have been possible for many people. 

Ordered a new one, easy to install. Note: pull the connecting wires out as far as they will stretch. Don't let them fall inside or you will have to pull the stove out and pull off the back. Need small fingers to start the new screws on the new element. Also remove the oven door.
