How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP2031021 / WB44X173 Oven Broil Element

Direct replacement part arrived the next day.

Replaced both bake and broil elements. Videos helped. Suggest removing oven door if possible. Mine lifted right off and made the process much less awkward. 

I was shocked to see how fast I received my parts. Over the course of the past 10 years both of my broiler elements in my double oven burnt out. I had a choice of replacing my aging 20+ year old oven at thousands of dollars or finding the replacement parts. luckily I found (Appliance parts pros) who had my exact replacement part. Even GE didn't have it. The fix was really quite easy and I had them both replaced in just over 1/2 an hour. Thank you Appliance Parts Pros. Replaced broil element and light socket. 

I was able to get the part here’s even though the oven was a 1972 model that still works great. Part was super easy to install. 

Unplugged oven. Removed burned out element - 3 small nut screws, 2 small Philips screws. Ordered replacement element from AppliancePartsPros; arrived 2 days later. Checked that it was the right part - it was. Installed replacement element. Plugged in oven. 

My son removed the old one and installed the new one. Maybe 10 minutes at the most. So very easy. 

1. Shut off power at the breaker box. 2. Removed 4 screws holding the element. 3. Unscrewed the 2 electrical conductors from the element. 4. Reconnected the 2 electrical conductors to the new broiler element. 5. Replaced the 4 screws that hold the element in place at the top of the oven. 6. Cleaned up. 7. Turned breaker to "on." 8. Tested the new burner and found all things to be normal again.
