Julio M Tucson , AZ February 13, 2017 Igniter replacement and overall maintenenance Second repair after 10 years of service - igniter had cracked and spill overs were causing the others to misfire. This was a two-step process. I took apart the cooktop to see what parts were neded. Screws were all rusted, I had to drill ome out. The burner gaskets broke during the process and needed replacement. One of the burners had deformed due to excess heat. After that initial diagnose, I reassembled the cooktop without the igniters and ordered all the parts I needed. The second stage was easy since I had already learned which parts needed replacement and how. work finished with a good cleanup of th glass plate. Blake V Midland , TX December 02, 2017 Flames shot out of one of the appliance knobs. Immediately unplugged the gas range, turned off the gas, removed the range and disassembled it. Obviously the harness that controls the gas was damaged so I did a Buick google search and found all of the parts I would need on here. Placed the order and fixed my range 2 days later. Joseph R Belchertown , MA March 19, 2018 Original problem one of the igniters was not working. Short of purchasing a brand new multi fuel convection stove at the average price of $1700. I purchased new igniter’s for my stove. Upon installing them I found I needed some screws to hold the burners back in place because the screws broke off. So I drilled out the old screws, tapped the holes to the original thread size replaced all the gaskets replaced the igniters for around $100 appliance Parts pros.com has been amazing I have use them for several years I fix my washing machine twice my refrigerator once and now my gas/electric range. The tools needed to fix the stove were more than most people would go through I Purchased the proper number six drill and a 6/32 thread tap to re-tap the holes. The entire job took approximately three hours. Read More... Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 2+ hours Tools: Pliers, Screwdrivers, Wrench Set

Mark P Angola , IN March 06, 2015 Appliance: General Electric Gas Range JGP628BEC2BB The spark module would not shut off Basically it was a minor overhaul. The entire stove top had to be removed, the old gaskets scraped off, and the felt pads on top of the burner modules had to be replaced. It wasn't complicated, just tedious. The insulation in the wires to the ceramic igniters had to be replaced or they could have shorted out against the adjoining metal surfaces. I used polyolefin shrink tubing and it worked well. Once the repairs were completed and things cleaned up, everything fired up properly and we're back in operation. I was happy with the timely delivery which limited the inconvenience. Read More... Ziaur R Sugar Land , TX September 19, 2014 Only one burner was lighting automatically I did not have to replace the gaskets, but I did replace them. The spark igniter can be pulled out easily by pulling it straight up. You might need to twist it gently with a pair if nose pliers. In my case the wire connector to the igniter had corroded. I had similar connectors in my electronic tool bag. You will need heat shrink tubing, 3/16" diameter, available at Frys or Radio Shack. I cut off the corroded connector, removed about 1/4" insulation of the wire and crimped the exposed wire very carefully into the new connector. I cut about 1" of heat shrink tubing, slid it over the new connector and carefully heated it with a cigarette lighter. Unfortunately, the 1" piece was found to be too short as the spark was leaking. To solve this problem, I cut an inch and a half piece of the heat shrink tubing and shrunk it on top of the 1" one and guess what .... no spark leakage!!! Repeated that for the other three igniters, reassembled everything. I have a strong spark on all four burners now, no need for the match box.... Happy wife......... and me too. No more nagging. LOL I used new burner screws, stainless steel available at Lowes, take one old one as a sample. Happy cooking! Zia Read More...
