How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP4567124 / WH12X10462 Capacitor

Bought from Appliance parts pros and replaced it. Works great now. 

Had to take side off of washer , cut plastic straps off and unplug the old capacitor and rep lug into new capacitor, put new quick ties to hold it and was done. 

My washing machine began smoking during a washing session. As a result the motor would just hum. My solution was to install a new belt but it was the capacitor that was bad; nuked actually. The machine is working again. An easy repair. Thanks! 

The capacitor was bad. 

The issue was resolved by replacing the lid switch assembly. I did replace the capacitor first (which did not solve the problem, but I just left the new one installed). Then, upon replacing the lid switch the washer started agitating and spinning again. For those that need to replace their capacitor - this is a super simple fix. The lid switch replacement is also an easy fix - removing the lid assembly is the trickiest part. The day the part delivered was fantastic. Also, in both cases, repair videos on your site are excellent. 

Purchased a capacitor from this store and replaced it

Replaced it and fixed it! 

After checking everything, and finding the motor so hot, it overheated. I checked the start capacitor, and found it shorted.
