We ordered the new rotary switch and to make sure the knob fit, we ordered the new knob, too. Had to unglue one of the connectors so that took the most time. Then drilled a few holes in plastic projections to hold the new rotary switch-used some wire to hold the switch arm in place and then used nylon ties across the back of the switch. Will always check you for parts first!
This should have taken no more than a half hour to take the back off, replace and plus connectors to new switch and secure switch and replace back but melting the super glue took over an hour with nail polish remover and then Goof Off. but it would have been $95 for the appliance company to come out and give an estimate even though I knew what was wrong! Quite a charge if they had to unglue one of the connectors!
