How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP5806667 / WE01X20378 Control Knob

Replaced dryer control panel and knob. Very easy repair. Parts were shipped fast and priced very reasonable. 

Slide dryer out-away from the wall. Turn it so you can access the back panel. Unplug the dryer..unscrewed the 3 screws on the upper back panel that holds the backsplash in place. Tilted the backsplash forward and released all three switches from the back panel by lifting up (small flathead screwdriver needed), the clip that "locks" the switches in place then carefully turning the switches counterclockwise to release from the backsplash panel. Slid the backsplash panel to the right and removed it. Replaced the new backsplash panel by inserting the tabs and sliding it to the left to "lock" it in place. Installed the 3 switches by carefully inserting them and turning counterclockwise until hearing the "click" which indicated that the switch tab has locked the switch in place. pull back the backsplash to line up the screw holes with the panel on the back of the dryer. Screw in the 3 screws to reattach the backsplash to the back panel of the dryer. 

We ordered the new rotary switch and to make sure the knob fit, we ordered the new knob, too. Had to unglue one of the connectors so that took the most time. Then drilled a few holes in plastic projections to hold the new rotary switch-used some wire to hold the switch arm in place and then used nylon ties across the back of the switch. Will always check you for parts first! This should have taken no more than a half hour to take the back off, replace and plus connectors to new switch and secure switch and replace back but melting the super glue took over an hour with nail polish remover and then Goof Off. but it would have been $95 for the appliance company to come out and give an estimate even though I knew what was wrong! Quite a charge if they had to unglue one of the connectors! 

Ordered the appropriate parts and completed the task in approximately 15 mins

I ordered my parts, perfect fit with the help of your compatibility search option. Watched the video a couple of times while replacing and was done in a couple of minutes! The video was very helpful as I had forgotten which wire should be attached to which number; the video solved that for me. Thanks! 

Was extremely easy to change. 

Ordered the new starter from y’all and asked my nephew to fix it. He had the old out and new in in 10 minutes or so. Most if his time was spent cleaning out behind the dryer!
