How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP6871922 / WD19X25278 Dishwasher Diverter Valve Assembly

I pulled out the dishwasher, flipped it on its side to get to the bottom and found a hole in the rubber fitting of the passive diverter valve. I removed the diverter by removing 2 hose clamps and 3 screws. I ordered the replacement and re-installed. 

Replaced diverter assembly and replaced pump at same time as old pump looked tired. Put dishwasher up on plastic card table in garage to make working on much easier. 

Replaced the diverter valve. 

I replaced it. Fixed. 

Replaced the part you sent. The hard part was determining where it was coming from. 

I replaced the Diverter Assembly. 

Fairly simple for me, shut off power, pull unit out, remove the spinning spray head by rotating plastic lock ring and pulling up, then disconnect top supply from fitting just behind from the inside bottom of unit, tilt unit to the left side enough for you to fit under and remove unit. Disconnect power connection to pump motor, pry off hose clamps with a thin flat screwdriver, remove complete motor assembly and get that out of the way, then remove the three mounting bolts on the defective part with a nut driver. Part should pull right out because you disconnected it from the internal parts already. Installing new unit in reverse order, just make sure to make good hose connections and tighten large one first... 

I had a local (and recommended from the warranty company) repairman come out to look at the dishwasher. He told my fiancé that the cost of the part alone would warrant buying a new unit. Being an aircraft mechanic I said that is ridiculous and decided to do some research. I found that a very reasonably priced part from appliancepartspros.com I was able to repair the dishwasher and save upwards of 800 dollars. Customer service was amazing and I will definitely be a return customer when the next part breaks. 

Found diverter valve rubber hose had a hole in it. Had to purchase the valve to get the odd rubber hose. Replacing it was tricky when trying to align everything, but overall took less time to install than it did to find where our dishwasher was leaking from. 

Bought the part and put it in myself. Took about 20 min and it's not leaking now.
