How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP6024314 / WH01X24180 Drive Belt

Replace belt. 

Replaced suspension rods and drive belt. 30 mins to change all the parts out and running like new. 

I changed the washer mode shifter cleared all the codes and ran it through all the test. It agitated and spun no issues but would still not switch from wash to spin. Although it says not to do it I placed a wet towel in the basket and ran the spin test again and it worked no issue I then ran the machine on a normal cycle and it functions fine, no issue since. I’m unsure of the reason for this but a win is a win. The new shifter was easy to install and you only need a 3/8 inch ratchet with an extension. 

I replaced 4 stabilizers around the tub. 

Ordered and removed/replaced all broken/failed parts. Took me about 15 minutes, maybe 20 as the little clip that holds the wiring in place for the speed sensor wasn’t coming out. After re-assembly I ran the remaining water out in a spin/drain cycle, then ran a small load of laundry. The washer runs just as good as new. Saved me quite a bit of money. If you can do any repairs yourself, then by all means save yourself the money and do it. I would 100% order from AppliancePartsPros.com again if needed. 

New belt transmission shifter 

After looking at the parts break out and researching on line I made the decision to replace the shift actuator, clutch gear and spring, transmission pulley, and drive belt. Operation is normal after the repair but I think the service life of these components is way too short and I intend to keep some replacements in stock for the future. The machine was quit easy to work on, like the old May Tags used to be. I ordered the parts Monday afternoon and they arrived Tuesday morning. 

I initially thought the issue was the clutch, based on research I did on YouTube so I purchased the parts below for the fix from AppliancePartsPros.com (APP). After starting the project, I realized quickly that the issue was more likely the belt. It was wearing out (black debris all over the motors and underside of the washing machine). I went ahead and replaced all of the parts that I had already purchased and ordered the belt. Thankfully, due to the quick shipping from APP, I received the belt in under 2 business days and replaced the belt as well. I am very thankful for the good parts and quick shipping from APP. Definitely will order from these guys again if I think it's something I can fix! 

Easy fix, take off belt guard, put on new belt, reinstall guard
