How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP3203248 / WR17X11459 Drive Cup

Originally replaced just the Drive Cup (twice) since that was recommended first step to try. The Auger had also shifted toward the front of the unit and actually pushed the shaft through the Auger Nut and bored a hole through the front of the crusher chamber. Since I'd never examined the mechanism BEFORE it was broken, I hadn't paid close attention to the other parts. When the Drive Cup failed again after a week, I decided to read more and ordered another Drive Cup, Plate Helix Lock and Auger Nut. NOW the auger is staying properly aligned and HOPEFULLY we're good for another 11 years of service from the dispenser. Thanks to THIS WEBSITE I've saved HUNDREDs of dollars keeping my appliances in service. 

Watched a video on line and it was an easy repair. Removed ice bin, then removed 4 screws. Next released two tabs to remove auger assembly. Once assembly was out, replaced plastic cup that engages the auger. The old cup had split. Washed the ice bin with dish soap and warm water and then put it back together in reverse order. 

I ordered the part from AppliancePartsPros.com and it was very easy to replace thanks to the video on the website. The video matched my GE icemaker exactly so I followed the steps in the video and it was easier than I expected. If I had not found the correct replacement part on ApplicancePartsPros.com I may have had to call a repair man and I'm certain the cost of having a repair man make the repair would have been 4 times as much money. 

Purchased dispenser cup, watched video showing repair procedure, installed cup and it works fine now. 

During troubleshooting, the drive under the ice maker was turning and it looked like the plastic part at the back end of the auger was broken. The new part arrived and thanks to the fix it video, I easily replaced it. Yay! About 10 minutes time. 

Video on your website was very helpful but my repair was made more difficult because the auger drive rod had poked a hole through the ice bucket. In order to lift the crusher box assembly out of the bucket, I used screwdrivers to wedge open a space between ice bucket and the crusher box so that I could slide a long flat bladed putty knife into the opening, pull the auger rod out of the hole, and then push the putty knife blade over the hole preventing the auger rod from going back into the hole. The rest of the repair went like your video. I replaced the drive cup and reinstalled all parts but I did not repair the hole. The drive rod immediately went back through the hole but the icemaker now works fine. If I have to replace the drive cup again I may consider replacing the bucket or repairing the hole. The refrigerator is about 10 years old and the icemaker may last for the life of the refrigerator. 

Replaced unit. 

Replaced sides, removed screws put in new pieces replaced screws . Slipped out old cup put in new one perfect fit. Easy fix genuine GE part for cheaper price . Fast deliver I had it the next day . 

Determined the helix lock was free wheeling on auger helix dispenser not allowing auger to dispense ice properly. Auger also replaced because it had some badly worn areas around the blade assembly. Using videos available for instructions on how to disassemble auger dispenser the job was fairly easy. While I had the assembly removed I also replaced the drive cup which appeared worn. All the parts I ordered were received in two days.
