How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP4485269 / WH01X10462 Control Knob With Clip

I asked my neighbor if he knew where I could get a replacement and his wife immediately went to the computer and looked up the information, she told me they have used your company for replacement parts many times. She sent me the link and the knob information with the information I gave her about my dryer (model, make), I ordered the part that evening (weekend) and had it by two business days later. I also watched the video to see how to attach the knob and it was so simple. The video was very helpful. 

The knob fit with no issue. 

I unscrewed the 3 Phillips screws on the back of the dryer controls housing, then it folds forward for access to each control switch. the old one popped out, and I swapped the wires using a needle nose pliers, one by one, from the old switch to the new switch. The part was an exact fit, and popped right back into the housing. I screwed the 3 screws back in, pushed on the new knob, and it looks and works like new ! 

After some research online regarding the part numbers that I needed, I found the best price on AppliancePartsPros.com. Fast shipping. Smooth order. The best part was that they actually sent me a video of the specific repair that I was addressing. I am not a pro, so that was a huge help. The repair was quick and easy. By using the schematics ordering the timer was very easy. My mistake was not ordering the knob and the spacer for the knob. I clicked on chat later in the evening even though I doubted anyone would come on. To my surprise I got an immediate response! They were able to cancel my first order and immediately take care of ordering the three parts through chat. Very easy and what should be done by other on line merchants. The parts came when promised and 10 minutes later my dryer was working again. Thanks for a well run organization. 

Replaced time and knobs- easy job! Word to the wise- make a diagram of the colored wires and where they go- don't rely on memory! 

I am 75 and not as spry as I once was, so I called a local appliance repair outfit. I was told there would be a $50 charge to have the repairman come to my house and that it would be about 4 days (over the weekend) until they could send some one. Well, I thought, let's see what we can do ourselves and was able to identify the part using your website and then to also get pricing/availability. I also found videos on how to replace the part on line which made the decision to order and replace it myself much easier. So now my dryer works just fine, I repaired it myself in the same 4 days for less than $20 including shipping. Nice to know that at 75 I've still got what it takes. 

Could of took it apart and lubed metal to plastic but why take a chance with electricity when installing a new one takes 15 to twenty minutes and under 70.00 to install new one.

I ordered the part I needed and fixed it and now it's as good as new.
