How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP2620174 / WE11X103 Heater Assembly (240V)

Purchased a new assembly. Do not buy just the coil and try to attach it. Spend the extra $$ and buy the complete assembly. Also, while you have it apart, replace the bearing and the belt....trust me I learned this the hard way. This website delivered the part within 2 days!!! 

R/R the element. If you have some mechanical know-how - this job was a piece of cake. 

Replaced belt and heater strips. 

I basically took apart the entire dryer to repair it. 

Ordered the Heater Assembly. Take my advice and don't fool with trying to re-coil the heaters yourself! Spend the extra money and be done with it! Glad I did! 

Purchased a replacement motor. Wiring was different from the original motor but upon contacting appliance parts pros they sent me a PDF of how the wiring should be. I then hooked up my wires to the new wiring harness. I also purchased a new dryer belt to replace the old. Once buttoned back up it works like a charm! 

Replaced the heat element assembly and the lint filter. While I was in the machine, I replaced the drum drive belt because there were a few spots that looked less than perfect. I have used parts from AppliancePros.com in the past and the parts are "always" a perfect fit. I recommend them highly. 

I unplugged the dryer and opened up the dry and found the belt had broke.After removing the tub I noticed the heating coils where broke and the idle pulley broken. I then looked up on line for repair parts for the dry.i received the parts on Monday that night I started to install the parts.Had to make shore all lint was vacuumed out be for installing the new parts.i installed the heating element fist and tested to make shore heat was working before going any feature. It all worked fine.i then installed the ideal pulley and put the drum back in then put the new belt around the drum and on the motor. After putting every thing back together that night it was back to work as new again. Thanks
