How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP5645233 / WB13K10043 Igniter Glow Bar

After identifying this “known issue”, I ordered all the parts to fix it. The parts came with instructions that made the install very straight forward. I saved a tremendous amount of money on the parts, and of course labor. 

Replaced the glow bar. This is the forth time in five years that it has burned out, excessive for an oven that's used maybe once a week. I've also had to replace the shields because of having a hole burned through them. No hole this time, but badly charred so they probably won't last long. Need I say that this oven has been a big disappointment? 

Installed a new Ignitor Glow Bar, Very easy to remove the old and install the new. 

Replaced Ignitor Glow Bar and heat deflector. New deflector has a cutout that will hopefully make this less likely in the future. This was the third time I have made this repair. Had to re-tap some of the screw holes as they seem smaller than the original. 

After speaking to one of your pros, listening to your youtube video, we replaced correct ignitor. Thanks ever so much for all your help. 

I googled to see what the probelm might be since my range was out of warranty. Even though the videos online were different than my range, I found most are similar. Turned off gas and unplugged range. Took off door and bottom tray, found were the ignitor was and saw it was visibly broken. Had to remove back panel to disconnect wire harness for ignitor. The part came in a few days and my oven was fixed! 

When oven wouldn't go my wife suggested the igniter might be bad. A plumber friend told me that sometimes they crack and fail. Ipulled it appart and sure enough the crack was planely visible. I tried to order the new ignighter from sears parts store but they didn't show it. It came in two days and I replaced it easy peasey.
