How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP2024076 / WB24T10029 Range Surface Burner Control Switch

Removed back panel from Stove. Removed knob from front. Removed 2 small screws from under knob and pushed switch through to back of unit. Pulled one wire at a time and installed on new switch. reinstalled switch replaced knob, and plugged unit back into the wall. turned knob on and checked for arcing. All good so put rear cover back on. Pushed back into place. All done in under 15 Minutes. Ordered the part from AppliancePartsPros on Thursday afternoon arrived Monday morning Stove up and running for the noon meal. All the tools required was a Phillips Screw Driver and a nut driver for the back plate removal. 

Replaced switch 

I ordered new infinite control switch from Appliance Parts Pros.com and followed their help instructions on removal of the old control switch and installation of the new switch. I ordered the switch one day and it was delivered the next day. I was most impressed ! I was thankful for the instructional video with a pro to watch do the job and then proceeded with the job and voila ! Everything worked as it did when new. 

Replaced two infinate switches, one for 6" burner and one for an 8" burner. I unpluged the stove. Removed the back panel with a nut driver. Pulled the knobs off the switches and removed the two screws off each switch. Pulled the wires off the switches one at a time and replaced them on the new switches. But the switches back in place. Job compete in about 20 minutes. 

I was amazed at how fast the parts arrived. There was no real wiring involved. I had the new element and control switch installed in less that an hour. As a test I only ordered on bowl and element. Not all parts other hardware stores fit correctly. The parts I received from Appliance Parts Pro were perfect. The element if in tight, level and the bowl has a perfect level. I will order more parts, Ray 

Replaced with new switch. Simple fix. Three screws (T15) on either side of stove top and two screws secure the switch. I made a quick diagram of the how the wires connected so I wouldn't forget. Total project took half an hour. 

I watched videos from AppliancePartPros and some others. It was pretty straight forward and just like it was shown in the videos. However, I did run into the problem that the control switch which we broke was slightly different from the other three. So, when I went to reattach the wires, it wasn't a one-for-one swap. The connectors were in different places and it seemed to be upside down. Fortunately, I had matched the part I ordered with the other three, and I wired the new one up just like the three good switches. Then I was just like this: https://youtu.be/3ysGEyW-QC0 

Problem solved. I contacted your tech and he called it right. he said his opinion it was not the burner but the infinite control switch. I switched the switches out on the 2 large burners that wasn't working right and it works just fine now. Thank You 

After about a year, even with a 4 year warranty with GE, 6 months left, because of hearing horror stories about how GE wants to charge for repairs and the visit charges even though I had a warranty. I did some homework to see what was needed to do it myself. ordered the switches needed and did the job myself. I have a been certified to repair Amana Microwave Ovens and LG Appliances.. The only reason I got the Warranty was just in case.. something really went bad that I couldn't fix and would take a replacement stove. 

Pulled old surface switch, replaced it. Did not fix problem, so we ordered infinite control switch and surface element. Easy fix.
