(1) Replaced surface unit receptacle, which is accessible by removing one screw. Cut off the old receptacle, strip 3/8" cladding off wires with wire cutters, twist ends together and cap. Push insulating sleeves over cap and heat with lighter until tight. Replace receptacle, burner hardware and test. All good.
(2) Removed 4 screws from ends of dial panel cover and the 5 dials. Removed 4 screws from the two center switches, which allowed easy access to switches on the back of the panel. Removed 2 screws from the faulty switch, transferred wires to the new switch, then mounted it. Put the panel back into position and replaced all remaining screws.Had a problem in the past with the extra-long notched shaft on the switch breaking in the wrong spot, so I used a small hacksaw to cut it at the desired length. Replaced the dials and tested. All good.
