How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP5956400 / WE05X20431 Lamp

I called Appliance Parts Pros.com and discussed the problem with the great customer service rep and she helped me order the correct replacement part. 

Replaced broken drive belt. Videos took all the mystery out of accessing the dryer and made the repair a SNAP! Thanks APPros! I also replaced all the 4 slides (wear noted) and the felt gasket which had been torn and out of position. That fixed another problem-- lint had been blowing everywhere! (only variance on this model is in removing the control console. The tabs have a notch in them. You have to slide the console to the right before it will lift straight off.) 

Ordered replacement parts 

Replaced dryer drum bearing, glides, slides. Watched YouTube video for instructions and identified worn out brake and glides 

Followed instructions 

Followed video to get to and remove front panel, but you don't have to disconnect the wires and turn it completely around to do the repair. Just tilt the top of the front panel out to access bearing slides, they are right there, and replace them with the bottom of the panel still in place. Easy to remove old and place new ones in. 15 minutes tops. 

Replaced bulb in GE dryer. I keep a supply of the bulbs because they don't last a long time. 

I ordered the light bulb ( in fact I ordered 3 to have a couple in reserve). These bulbs simply screw into a small socket, just as you would replace a light bulb in a lamp, so I just unscrewed the burnt out one and screwed in a new one. The whole thing took about 5 minutes. 

New rear drum bearing kit and drive belt solved the problem. 

Replaced the bearing slides and drum support bearing. Very easy to do, thanks to Appliance Parts Pros.
