How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP5956400 / WE05X20431 Lamp

Ordered the lamp,soon it came I installed it,end of story. 

The GE gas dryer wouldn't start. Used on line tools to find the most likely causes; door switch, start switch failure, over temp fuse, belt failure or one of the thermostats - no joy. You need a volt meter and you should go here first although someone familiar with the dryer might tell you that the timer control turns with out resistance. Turned out that the Timer Control knob was cracked and was not turning the timer control. The control had timed out in the off condition and of course wouldn't start. Finally noticed it when the knob fell off when I was trouble shooting behind the control panel. The hub has a metal clip inside the hub and a D shaped hole but the hub was cracked. Ordered a new knob and epoxied the old knob for a temporary solution. The knob is molded with hollows for the control wing. Fill with 30 min.epoxy and use a bull dog clamp to hold the split together. Second step mix up some more epoxy and apply it to the end of the hub and wrap it with some common thread, coating it with epoxy every couple of wraps. Worked well until the new knob arrived. 

Replaced lightbulb 

My Dryer's timer stopped turning and I figured out that the timer needed to be replaced. I found the part easily after entering my dryer's model number into Appliance Part Pros search bar. I ordered the part and it was at my house in no time. I watched the instructional video by Appliance Part Pros as well, and it was probably the best instructional video I've seen in awhile. no joke, it made the repair really easy. 

They quickly honored their warranty offer and shipped out one of the replacement part that I needed. Then I needed additional new parts that fit perfectly the first try also, very easy for an amateur with their detailed tutorial videos on each part of my very old unit. I would never use another company for my appliance parts repair needs! Customer for life thanks to their great website and service! 

Replaced belt and trap duct assembly and the top of the frame which connects the front panel to the drum. Videos were super helpful. 

Replaced two sliders in the upper front bearing housing. Also returned the lint tray and light bulb. Two screws, move barrel, replace sliders, done. 

The front end where the rotating drum sits was warned out. Ordered the part from appliancepartspros.com The parts was at my house by the next day. Replaced them. 

Replaced knob and bulb. 

I replaced the upper & lower bearing slides that were broken and had sharp edges. The videos provided by appliancepartspros.com were spot on and made the fix super simple. I'll be bookmarking this site!
