How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP7225583 / WH08X37938 Washer Lid Lock Service Kit

Replace the lid lock switch kit. 

Took 5 minutes to replace the part. 

We ordered and replaced the lid lock and harness and striker. We ordered the lid lock kit and followed the instructions. The striker looked a little different than the original. It was somehow using magnets to the lid lock. But it did work. In short, the lid lock mechanism failed, thus washer will not wash (detected it was still. open). . 

Replaced the piece.. 

I replaced the Lid Lock mechanism and that did solve the problem. 

I noticed that the lid lock was not lit up. So I looked online and found that AppliancePartsPros.com had the part cheapest and an awesome step by step repair video. I ordered the lid lock kit and put it in my machine and now it works flawlessly. 

I replaced the Lid Lock Sensor. I came here to see if anyone had a similar issue and sure enough they did and recommended the Lid lock Kit It came with everything and instructions that made it super easy and now the washer is working like new. 

I immediately got online to see if I could avoid an expensive repair or having to replace this hideous washer. I searched the model number and found AppliancePartsPros.com-never heard of them before. I found my washer on their site and saw an exploded spec image of the beast. I populated "LID" into search and saw the locking mechanism kit and watched the video provided by appliancepartspros.com. Best DIY video I've seen in years-- camera work was perfect and the instructions were crystal clear. The expert doing the repair was orderly, methodical and did not look like he was just released from the county or in the witness protection program. TOO EASY! THE WHOLE REPAIR TOOK 15 MINUTES--yep, hubby has yet another reason to worship. The price was more than reasonable and the parts arrived fast. This company is a winner and hits it out of the park in every department. I will use them for everything from now on and will be fixing appliances for friends and family too. I unplugged the machine then I proceeded to take out the screws for the cover then I was able to take out the old not working lid lock. As I was working on it saw some corrosion by the hinges and I decided to give it a new paint job, the new Lid Lock Kit fit very well and it was not hard at all.. And now it's all working and looking as good as new the video tutorials are always helpful
