The Lid Lock Service Kit is an OEM part for GE washing machines. This kit includes the components necessary to ensure that the washer lid remains securely locked during operation, preventing the lid from being opened when the washer is in use. This safety feature is crucial for top-load washers, ensuring safe and efficient operation by preventing access to the washer drum during cycles.

The kit includes:

  • Lid Lock & Harness Assembly
  • White Bezel
  • Gray Bezel
  • White Strike
  • Gray Strike

Common causes of a malfunctioning lid lock include wear over time, damage to the lock mechanism, or electrical issues that prevent the lock from engaging or disengaging properly. Exposure to moisture and constant use can also affect the performance of the lid lock system.

Symptoms of a bad lid lock include:

  • The washer not starting or advancing in the cycle
  • Error codes related to the lid lock
  • The lid not locking or unlocking as expected
  • The washer stopping mid-cycle

This GE replacement part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

William, the lid lock [OEM21676754] can be tested from the wires plugging into the main control [OEM21676712] after unplugging the power supply cord. With the lid closed, there should a resistance of 70 Ohms when testing from the yellow wire to the red wire. If the resistance measures properly, the main control has failed. If the meter reads open, try pressing on the lid corner just above the strike to identify if resistance becomes evident. If it does, the lid has warped and would need to be corrected.

Matt for Model Number WH08X37938

When replacing a failed lid lock switch (WH08X32697) with the updated model (WH08X37938), the lid will lock and the drum will fill, but only for 2-3 seconds before stopping. When put into service mode, all the fault codes were all related to the lid lock. I can get the machine to fill, agitate, spin, and drain in service mode, but once the errors have been reset, I cannot get the machine to get past the 2-3 second fill. I have removed and reinstalled the new lid lock to inspect for any breaks in the wire or see if anything else could be causing the issue but was unable to identify anything. Could I have received a bad part? What should I try next?

Matt, if the model number of your appliance could be provided in a new question, this will allow the most accurate information to be presented.

I have a G.E. washer that is not working. You turn the main knob to set it on wash setting you want and display lights come on on the board. Also if you set water temp and load size the display lights come on and it does make the little dinging noise with your scroll through the settings.Once all is set to your likings, the start button is pressed and it starts to play alittle music and quits quickly and that is it.The light lights up on the fill and sensing area but nothing else happens, the washer does not fill with water, the lid lock does not lock lid, nothing happens.Tryed different wash setting and different water temps and it does same thing.Tried unplugging it to reset it and still nothing.Read a bunch of stories on your site for this washer about lid lock sensor but most of stories say the washer filled up and then nothing,my washer is not even filling.Help, could your please point me in the right direction on possibly what i could check that is causing my problem.I know they have the lid switch and i know the water valves and i know possibly the control board. Is there a tech repair manuel possibly on this washer that i could find that would help me test some of these parts to see if one might be bad.Are could your give me some quick instructions on how to check the lid switch and maybe water valve and maybe even the control panel with a meter and what reading should i get.Your help on this washer would greatly be appreciated. Thanks for your time.

Justin, If you lift the main top, at the front of the washer inside there will be a tech sheet in which you should be able to put the unit into service diagnostics to see if there are any error codes showing.
