How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP2063068 / WR13X10020 Lower Door Hinge Kit

Water switch broke got a new one put it in 

I tried to call my hubby but he was at work and unavailable. I got on the computer and hooked up with Appliance Parts and had an on line chat. She helped me determine the parts I needed and helped me order those parts. By the time hubby got to me I had the situation well in hand. I even figured out a way to rig the hinge to support the door until the part arrived. The part arrived in 2 days and I fixed the door to the refrigerator before my husband got home. Who needs those guys anyway! LOL! 

Removed back panel in freezer 8screws tested heating elements not working ordered them replaced and all is Good very simple fix all ya needed was a phillips screwdriver 

Talked to Chris at APP and found the proper hinge kit for my app. the shipping was crazy fast,i ordered mid morning and Fed x woke me the next morning with the part. As far as replacing the worn parts, it toke longer to get ready and tools than it did to do the job,the video also helped me with the idea of blocking the door up while changing the hinge instead of emptying and removing the door.My experience with APP was great with a very helpful person at customer sevice,good price and fast,fast shipping, they are for now on my favorites list for when i need parts again. 

Although slightly differing from the video, it was basically the same and the repair was easy and went smoothly. Tip: be sure to replace both door hinges, freezer and food storage doors, at the same time as they will both be worn out. 

Replaced the lower hinge with the lower hinge kit. 

Replaced the lower hinge and cam assembly with a new lower hinge kit 

Used videos for suggestions on repair since they did not match my parts! Handles were different than video so we had to figure them out.Also the screw was not one a normal screwdriver could remove-needed a torque screw driver which most people do not own! A note should be put on- line on the part(s) that a special screwdriver would be needed! We have a GE refrigerator about 15 yrs old and we received OEM GE parts from KY. Replacement on handles-all 3 parts- on fridge & freezer door approx. 1 hr and the hinge on refrig door about 20 minutes. Saved us mucho dollars by NOT calling a repairman! Also parts arrived in 2.5 days. 

Stepson made the diagnosis, ordered part, installed it, and fixed the problem.
