How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP2063068 / WR13X10020 Lower Door Hinge Kit

Watched the video first, and just followed the same procedure. Attaching the new hinge to the freezer body was a little difficult as it was necessary to align the holes on the door hinge and shim with the hinge inserted in the door. With a little movement and rearrangement it was possible to insert the two bolts that hold the hinge to the body of the frig, and then tighten down. It takes a 5/16 inch socket to attach the parts to the door and the body. Did not have this size in my socket set and had to purchase a 6 point for a 3/8 inch drive. With new parts on the freezer side, the freezer door sits higher than the door for the frig side. I suspect this is because the cam for the frig side was worn down. Doesn't matter as both sides close and seal tightly. 

Replaced the hinge kit. 

Replaced lower door hinge. 

Ordered door hinge part for GE refrig. Installed in about 45 minutes. 

Replaced lower door hinge parts. Went real easy after reviewing the video instructions provided on the site. 

Removed lower hinge and replaced hinge and cam.

Our 10 year old Hotpoint fridge (freezer) side-by-side still looked great but was having defrost issues as well as door swing issues on the fridge side. Thanks to parts from APP my son and I were able to install a new defroster and thermostat as well as replace the lower hinge assembly on the fridge side door. The unit is almost like new again and we calculate an $1800 savings when considering the cost of a new unit.
