How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP3875619 / WD22X10047 Lower Spray Arm

Our GE was installed about 8 years ago and was AWESOME for much of its early life. However, progressively its cleaning ability diminished. By replacing all the spray arms (clogged with debris), filters, drain hose, and sump...this dishwasher cleans like it did when it was new! Cost was around $100 (also replaced a wheel and the silverware basket) and labor was relatively simple. And to think...my mother-in-law said, "Wouldn't it just be easier to buy a new one?!?". 

I did an internet search - found your site explaining how to fix. I purchased the upper, middle, and lower spray arms - It took about 15 minutes total. Very very easy. No more dirty dishes! 

I ordered new spray arms. There's no easy way to clean clogged spray arms. A very simple thing to do. 

Replaced with new lower spray arm unit. Did it by watching your video. 

I was replacing the spray arms, water supply and the coarse filter. Like many others have said they were gunked-up with a thick layer of greasy food build up and dishes were not getting as clean as my wife wanted. The spray arms were a piece of cake as was the water supply tube. When I tried to remove the pump end of the water supply to replace the coarse filter line it turned but would not come free of the pump inlet gasket where it screwed in. I think I turned it 360 degrees counter clockwise about 10 times. I figured it was a bad clamp on the pump inlet so I removed the lower front panel of the dishwasher and the under counter screw mounts and pulled the machine from its nesting spot When I tilted the machine back the fitting to the pump was shredded by the clamp when I turned it so I had to replace that also. Very cramped space and it was hard for this 72 YO knees to get down and up a half dozen times. Once replaced, everything went back together quickly and the dish washer is like new. This was a GE Profile dishwasher that was 15 years old and it cleans like new. 

I replaced all the spray arms. The "Filter Fine Assembly" extrusion was improved to eliminate the washer rubber which deteriorated over time. Everything works fine and the dishes are now spotless. 

Your videos were excellent, and explained how to remove parts to get to the problem. The sump was breaking up, loaded with white stuff which broke off and was clogging the spray arms with bits of stuff. I ordered a new sump, a fine filter, and lower spray arm which mine was almost totally clogged. Another video showed me how to remove the dishwasher from the cabinet and replace the sump with my wife's help. After replacing these parts, I ran the machine without a load. The first load of dishes showed that it was performing like new. My wife's delighted. I can't say enough good things for your company. Totally five stars!! 

Decided to replace the fine filter assembly and along with it the lower and middle spray arm. I have tried cleaning these with a tiny brush and was able to remove some gunk out but they do not come a part so thought it best to just start with new. The filter and lower spray arm were easy to just take off and the new just fit right in. The middle spray arm part was a little different then the original. It comes with a new metal screw and washer and a plastic part that is attached to the bottom of the upper rack. You have to remove the old part that is held on by one screw and attach the new part so that the spray arm fits. Not sure why they would change it since the old set up seemed fine but you have to either take the whole upper basket off its track and out or try to work upside down. I opted to take the basket out by prying the plastic end pieces out of the track and sliding the basket out. It was an easy fix and now my dishes are clean with out a film and dirt residue left on them. 

This was easier than I thought it would be. Found the damaged parts online at AppliancePros went to YouTube for replacement help. Ordered the parts they came in about two days, quicker than the GE repairman could even come out to look at the 6 years old dishwasher. Had it apart, repaired and back together in about one hour. Dishwasher works better now then it has in the past three years. During the repair process I found some helpful maintenance tips online to give it a tune up, clean out screens and filters, etc. GREAT SITE,GREAT PARTS, everything fit perfect.
