How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP2030996 / WB44T10010 Oven Bake Element

Turned the oven on and it didn't heat. So check to see if the broil would work and it did. So I ordered a heating element and it took 15 seconds to install maybe less. Works great!! Shipped fast as well. 

After seeing the bottom oven element catch fire, I knew it was going to be an easy fix as I have used parts to fix my appliances from AppliancePartsPros.com before. I used the chat line as there was more than possible element for my stove. I gave them the model number and was given the correct part that I ordered thru the chat line. In all the ordering took about 5 minutes and the part arrived 2 days later. It only took about 15 minutes from start to finish to replace the element and the stove was back in service. I order both heating elements (bake and broil) for my mom's stove. The parts came rather quickly and I was able to get them installed via the online videos. 

Move stove to unplug, remove rear center panel, indentify the two spade connectors that feed the heating element and remove (unplug) them. Remove two screws that hold the element to the inside rear wall of the stove and remove element. Install new element, plug in the previously removed spade connectors, re-install rear center panel, plug range (power) in, move stove back into place and enjoy. 

I watched a short video on how to replace it, ordered the part, replaced it in less than ten minutes. 

Appliance book included instruction on how to remove and replace the hearing element. One important instruction recommended after removing the screws holding the element, be sure to secure the electrical wires so they do not slip back into the insulation between the inner oven wall and the external back of the stove. Unfortunately, I removed the wires from the element and held one of the wires with pliers, the other wire did slip into the insulation. In order to retrieve the wire I had to remove the back of the stove and fish the wire back through the insulation into the oven in order to connect the wire to the new element. Not a bad extra job, but it added and hour to the project. Bummer! Should have clamped the end of each wire before removing the old element. 

Ordered a new one - installed in about 5 minutes. Now we are cooking up some brownies! 

Replaced the heating element in the bottom and also replaced the temperature sensor. I removed the door first to get it out of the way. I pulled the oven from the wall and unplugged it. Then I took out the screws holding the element and sensor inside the oven. Then I removed the metal plate covering the wires on the back of the oven. From there I could disconnect the wires for the element and sensor easily. Removed old parts. Installed new parts, back cover, and door. This fix was easy, but decided to spend a lot more time deep cleaning the over and stove while I had the door off. Tested with a thermometer that hangs from oven rack to see if it was coming up to temperature. 

I ordered and replaced the element, with the help of the video that was provided. The problem was resolved.
