How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP2031031 / WB44X200 Oven Bake Element

Replaced part on 28 year old built in GE double oven. Recommend you take great care to not let wires retract back into wall after disconnecting old part. Part fit well so straight forward swap out. Give yourself plenty of light. Should go without saying, but shut off power to oven before doing anything. Plenty of YouTube videos as well if you are hesitant. Saved me service call charge and possible mark up on the part as well. Part arrived in 2 days. Happy house again. 

Took old element out - put new element in. Works great. Would have taken less time if I had figured out how to remove oven door. Tough reaching all the way to the back of the oven when you are almost 80! 

Found the serial number on their oven called AppliancePartPros confirmed the part I needed received coil 3 days later invited myself over .. with the coil! installed it that night So easy works like a charm! 

Bought 2 new oven elements and replaced them. 

Used the nut driver to unscrew the back plate of the element, philips head to unscrew the screws connecting the element to the wires in the back of the unit, then performing the reverse to install. This GE branded element was a perfect fit for my old Frigidaire oven. 

Turned power to oven off at the breaker. Easy removal of old element carefully making sure that the wires from the wall did not slip back behind the oven (used clothespins to keep wires from slipping back). New element attached to wall wires (this part was not as easy as it could have been because old attachments to wires were not the same as the new replacement using the old screws). I needed to use the old screws for the attachment plate to the back of the oven because the screws included with the new replacement were machine screws and sheet metal screws were needed. Turned power back on. Finished! 

Ordered part it came the next day. Watched video on how to replace. Ez fix, 2 screws then connected the wires. Was back in business in less than 10 minutes. 

Replaced elements

I replaced both elements and the light socket in about 45 minutes.The light socket was super easy.
