How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP3202322 / WB13T10045 Oven Igniter Assembly

Replaced the igniter when I saw it was not glowing when trying to start the oven and the oven wouldn’t heat up. Very easy repair. Just removed the broiler pan drawer and oven door, took out the heat shield, disconnected the old (dead) igniter, then put in the new one. Very simple and easy electrical connection, accessed behind a panel on the exterior rear of the oven. 

Replaced the igniter with OEM igniter. The last igniter I installed was an aftermarket one that cost about $30, and it lasted less than 6 months. Hopefully the OEM one is better. Here's a tip to avoid tearing out insulation when removing/installing igniters: Cut the connector off the old igniter before removing it. Be sure to cut the right wires!! Before installing the new one, tightly wrap foil around the connector to form a bullet like point ahead of the connector. Gently wiggle as you push the connector through the insulation. Actual replacement time is only about 15 to 30 minutes, but I take extra time to clean around and under the range. 

Replaced ignitor and burner tube. 

Replaced igniter. 

Went online and using schematics from Appliance Parts Pros, determined what parts were necessary. Then, to confirm, spoke to one of their pros. The parts were shipped promptly and the repair is complete. 

Replaced the oven igniter with the piece I bought from AppliancePartsPros. It was a simple, easy replacement. The part fit exactly as it should have since it was an OEM part. 

Replaced parts with those supplied. 

Replaced the burner and the igniter. 

Called GE helpline. They recommended what part may need to be replaced. Looked up the part on Appliance Parts.com, read reviews, ordered part, husband installed part in about 45 minutes and the oven was fixed! Baked a delicious cheesecake for my daughters birthday- success!! 

I wanted to save technician fees averaging $150 to $200. Went online typed in "How to replace GE Profile Oven model #JG5968SO146SS ignitor went out". Looked at several sites. Explored and entered model #JG5968SO146SS at AppliancePartsPros.com (APP). Forgive on not remembering the APP technicians name, he explained everything with pictures, video, and documentation what I needed to do from another person who had the same problem. I was able to replace the igniter within one hour. Total time two and half hours (due to cleaning behind the oven, wall and flooring underneath the oven sits (very dirty!). Mental note: clean behind oven once a year. Please take note, when replacing the igniter, order new screws as well. When I was trying remove the two screws, one of them were striped and the other partially. Had to saw one off. Had to go the local hardware to find something similar to the original screws. In part of that, it was very manageable. Follow the directions and you shouldn't have any problems.
