How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP2014008 / WB2X9154 Gas Range Oven Igniter

Took about 5 minutes to replace the part. Most of the screws didn't even need a screwdriver. 

First, let me tell you, I am a 45 fix it yourself mom. My dad always taught me to try to fix something before buying new. You never know how much money you can save. After almost having my Easter prime rib ruined from the oven stop working, I went to the appliance parts pros website pulled up the diagram of my oven. I determined it was the igniter. I watched the how to video to see if it was easy enough for this old lady to fix. I was confident I could do it. I ordered and only had to wait 2 days for my part. (Would probably been one if I did not order on Sunday). Once my part came, followed along with my iPad and oven was fixed in 20 ministers. I love appliance parts pros. 

Got a new igniter from AppliancePartsPros.com. Was harder to get at the old one than depicted in several on-line videos. I'm pretty sure there is a slightly different config in my oven. At any rate, I basically took out ALL of the horizontal flat metal pieces in the oven, so the space was complete cleared out except for the oven burner "pipe". Once I got to that point, everything was easy - easy access to the old igniter, easy to put the new one in. As long as you have the 1/4" hex tool, this was all pretty easy. 

Thankfully much easier to replace than the gas regulator! Admittedly a bit disappointed that this is the second time in 4 years, I've had to replace a genuine GE igniter on my oven. The original igniter lasted 20 years. Always appreciate APP's lickety-split delivery! 

We purchased a new ignitor and followed the video how-to on the parts page of this site. It was a pretty easy repair! My one bit of advice is this, when you are cutting the connectors off the old ignitor to splice to your new part, give yourself more wire to work with than you think you need. I cut too little, and had to purchase additional ceramic connectors to splice in more wire. Otherwise the repair was really straightforward and the video was super helpful. Our oven now works perfect! 

I replaced the oven igniter (Gas) Please note: The online video was extremely simple and showed me how to do the job. I’m pretty handy but I couldn’t figure out how to get to the parts. The video is what got me to purchase this part from you verses another supplier. I felt you are standing behind your product. 

Ordered a new igniter, my husband replaced it and my oven works again. 

The project went smoothly, with the instruction no problem. 

TOOK ONE SCREW OUT AND PULLED IT OUT. CLIPPED THE WIRES. PUT NEW IGNITER ON WIRES WITH SUPPLIED CERAMIC NUTS. FEEDING WIRES BACK IN WAS THE HARDEST PART. SECURED IGNITER. PLUGGED POWER UP. TESTED AND HAVE WORKING OVEN AND A HAPPY WIFE. 

Installed a new igniter.
