How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP5803461 / WH23X10030 Drain Pump

I have a very old washer and when it stopped working/pumping water mid-cycle, I was devastated. This was the first site to pop up when I searched my model number and after watching the video on how to replace the pump, I was confident I could do it. So, with a ratchet set, pair of pliers and the assistance of my 10-year-old daughter, the pump was changed in an hour. It only took an hour because I do not have the best tools. :) I highly recommend ordering from here. Delivery was incredibly fast (2 days which I did opt for) and the video was exactly what I needed. Bought a new pump which wasn't a perfect match, but we made it fit. 

Ratchet, socket, and less than 30 minutes time. 

Took front cover from washer. Used pliers on clamps to remove two hoses. Took off two bolts holding pump in place and removed. Replaced with new one. Very easy. 

Watch your video on pumps for GE washers. 

Replaced pump. Found 3/4" sq. x 1/16" thick. non metallic rigid piece in old pump impeller, maybe washing mach. starting to come apart internally? Struggled with pump intake hose clamp reinstall, was starting to consider using worm clamp, 

Followed the video that’s provided. 

Did not fit in. Used O-ring in it to fix old one. 

Replaced part. 

Replaced the pump. Very easy fix. Took about an hour.
