How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP2059046 / WR2X7054 Dishwasher Push-On Nut

Unplugged the power supply, removed the kick plate, then unplugged the drain module. Removed the drain module. Cut and removed the old push-on nut from the shaft. Removed the shaft seal. I wet the new seal and installed onto the shaft. I installed the push-on nut holding the end of the shaft until it is seated properly to hold the seal securely in place. Reinstalled the drain module and connected the wiring harness. Plugged the power supply and ran the dishwasher through a quick cycle to make sure everything was working fine. It worked and no more leaking. I reinstalled the kick plate and good to go! 

I already had the dishwasher out so I just put it on it’s top loosened all the bolts hose clamps and electrical plugs and pulled the pump off. At the same time I took the spring and screws out and removed the solenoid and cam off. I tried to get the screen off but it was stuck so I broke it. Took the blades off then the impeller and seal. To make it easier for me to get the seal out, I took the pump off the motor. On the other shaft, I took a pair of pliers and broke the push nut off. Took a knife and pulled the seal out. I also watched the video on appliancepartspros.com. Very easy to do if you have any mechanical knowledge. 

Replaced shaft seal and push on nut. This repair took me longer than the average person due to disabilities. I imagine someone who is fit and strong could do this in a short while.

Purchased a new drain seal and washer from APP.com and followed the video instructions. EXTREMELY HELPFUL AND DETAILED INSTRUCTIONS led to a successful home repair. Will definitely be back in the future. Highly recommended! 

Ordered rubber seal and metal ring from Appliancepartspros.com. Removed bottom cover on dishwasher, cut metal ring with cutters, and pried out old rubber seal. Replaced and back in service. Also flushed washer with soda and vinegar mixture to clean drain. 

Replaced seal and push nut.. 

Took it apart and saw where the water was coming from, researched and watch videos to see if I could handle the repair, ordered and fixed it. 

Ordered new seal and nut.
