How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP2038837 / WD8X181 Dishwasher Drain Valve Shaft Seal

Opened the bottom to see and turned it on to see water coming out around some sort of switch. I used the model number to find a parts diagram and figured out it was the seal around the drain valve activating lever. It to one tiny rubber gasket and one small metal push nut on washer. I found a youtube video which demonstrated the repair. Done in 10 minutes and no more leaks. I had company coming in 3 days and Appliancepartspro had it there in 2 by internet order! Thanks again!! 

Saw rusty water on the floor. Removed bottom panel of dishwasher and saw water dripping from the bottom center of the dishwasher. After watching repair videos, I discovered that it was coming from the bottom of the motor and was due to a worn out shaft seal. I was able to replace the shaft seal without turning my dishwasher upside down, which greatly reduced the time. The video instructions are correct and if you follow them, you should have luck. 

I assumed I was going to have to pay hundreds for someone to come fix my leaking dishwasher but found this video and decided to give it a go. It’s not my skill set and I was def out of my depth but it turned out to be very easy to follow the instructions and to my delight and amazement I fixed it. So $30 instead of $$$ and increased DIY confidence with it. Awesome! 

Replaced the shaft seal on my 30 year old GE Pot scrubber 1200, which otherwise from the leak functioned flawlessly. The seal fit perfectly since it was OEM, but I didn't need the push-on nut because this particular model had a factory washer and c-clip holding the seal in place. Actual seal replacement was done in less than 15 minutes but the most time spent was on cleaning years of dust from the dishwasher exterior and the counter cavity it sat in. Plus, I decided to replace the hot water line and upgraded the hard-wired connection from 14/2 to 12/2 cable. Finally, the shipping service was outstanding. I was a bit incredulous when the site stated that I'd receive the seal in 1.7 days on standard shipping. In reality, it was more like one day. 

I installed the new parts and found out I have to order a new pump/motor assembly. 

Replaced the seal and the push-on nut. I was ready to replace the entire motor & pump assembly when I found the video you have on your site showing that the seal is replaceable & how to replace it. I followed the removal of the push-on nut ( by cutting it) and seal as described, but the install of the new seal per the enclosed instructions is a little confusing, and what took the most time is that new push-on nut is VERY tight making it hard to push down into it's groove (if I had to do it again I would try an E clip instead). After all that the machine is leak free. 

Watched the video that was posted on your site, ordered the seal, and replaced it.
