I replaced the solenoid. I've done it before on this frig. If you do it, one trick is to only loosen the top screw. The bottom two screws need to be removed completely. Then the old solenoid slips out easily. The shaft may stay dangling on the crank (unless the crank is broken). Gently lift the crank, which has a hook on the end, and lift off the shaft. When putting in the new solenoid, reverse the process. Hook the shaft on the crank hook. Then lift the solenoid into place while slipping the shaft inside the solenoid. It would have helped me to have someone with a flashlight, but I managed.
You'll need to watch youtube videos to see how to remove the outer door panel (screws on top of door and on inside (hinge side) of door, pop off plastic trim around dispenser, remove one screw on bottom of electronic display panel (lift from below, at an angle, and remove), gently wiggle out the electronic connections - don't pull on the wires), remove 4 screws at corners of section with the dispenser on it, and then you'll see the part that needs to be replaced.
It's such a hassle to get to this point that if you have any other visible parts that look corded, you could replace them to improve the look of your frig. Good luck!
BTW - I'm a 5'14" woman. The only part that might require someone bigger is removing the outer door facing, but I'm able to handle it okay.
