How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP6026776 / WR23X21444 Refrigerator Door Light Switch

I replaced the door switch. The video showed how to remove the switch and plug containing the wires. However, when I removed the switch, the plug disconnected inside the freezer wall and turned sideways. By using a couple of small screwdrivers I was able to maneuver the plug out, attach it to the new switch, and reinstall the switch. The switch removal and installation was easy. But, I think since the plug disconnected while pulling the old switch out, that perhaps the light issue was due to a loose connection and not the switch itself. At any rate, all works well now. 

I removed the old one with a putty knife and replaced the switch with a new one. The repair video was very helpful.

Looked at the schematic of my ref model. scrolled through the parts list and the videos were awesome. So helpful. After watching the video, I replaced the door light switch, it was more difficult to remove than shown in the video, took about 10 mins, total. The ice door went about as shown in video. The videos were great. If I had known how easy these repairs were, I would have done them sooner. 

I ordered a new switch and followed the video instructions to use a putty knife to release the tab holding the switch. Then I just pulled out the old switch, un-hooked the electrical connectors, re-hooked the electrical connectors to the new switch and pushed the switch back in.
